Text Talk
Let's talk about the different texts you are reading!
Please share the name of your book or news article and tell us about the topic. Be sure to add what you are enjoying about it! I'll start-
I am currently reading The Texas Revolution. It is about the battles that happened in Texas history. I'm enjoying that I know this will be helpful in class. I also like the way the author gives me the dates of the battles. I know some of you are going to really enjoy researching about how battles were fought too.
Now it's your turn. Be sure to check your sentences before you publish!

What Makes a Good Hero?
Fourth graders are really starting to notice the people and the world around them. Think about the adults in your life. They play an important role in your life at school, out in the world, and in the person you become as you get older. They can make your life enjoyable and fun and show you how to become the best person you can be by living as a role model. Take a few moments to think about what makes a hero. Then answer these two questions and discuss your thoughts on heroes.
1. What makes a good hero?
2. Why are heroes important to you?
Your responses need to be written in complete sentences with correct punctuation and capitalization.
he·ro

Precepts
We are loving the book Wonder, by R.J. Palacio. Auggie just learned about precepts. A precept is a general rule about a really important belief or action. His September precept is:
"WHEN GIVEN THE CHOICE BETWEEN BEING RIGHT OR BEING KIND, CHOOSE KIND."
Students:
1. What does this precept mean to you?
2. What precepts do you and your family believe?
